Hmmm. Nice iPhone app for Wordpress. Could open a lot of blogging possibilities….
I was very disheartened to hear about Home Depot stopping their sponsorship of American Olympians. I recognize these are tough economic times, but I have always been enthralled with Home Depot’s TYPE of sponsorship — full time pay and benefits for part time work on a flexible schedule for our Olympians. It just seemed so noble to me.
If you feel the same, I encourage you to send them a note..
I wanted to express my disappointment with the discontinuation of Home Depot’s relationship and sponsorship of American Olympians.
For many years, I have gone out of my way to shop at Home Depot – for all manner of product including the “little” things such as batteries or cleaning supplies – because of my great respect for Home Depot’s sponsorship of Olympic athletes. It is something that I took great pride in and that I certainly told everyone in my circle of friends/family about — probably more times than they wanted to hear.
Allowing the Olympians to receive full-time pay/benefits for part time work seemed absolutely noble to me – especially as the corporate world has become more and more cynical. It was something tangible. Not just a “money sponsorship” – it was a personal sponsorship.
I hope that Home Depot will reconsider this decision and continue to support our Olympic athletes.
Thank you,
- Eric Parucki
Putting my photos up on Flickr has really turned a lot of communication my way — from a lot of different quarters.
Including…Â Schmap.
Schmap is map-mash with photos to indicate places of interest, events, etc…Â Kinda neat!
Two of my photos were included with the latest editions for Chicago and Galway.
The Chicago entry, although the photo was taken in Grant Park, is NOT at the Grant Park Music Festival, rather it is at Lollapalooza 2008.
The Galway entry is of the Great Southern Hotel.
Neither of the photos are anywhere NEAR the best photos I have taken, but it is still nice to see my name next to a photo credit!Â
clearly, sarah silverman is a genious. i know this because… without her, cheezy knockoffs like this one would not exist.
i am really not sure if this is funny or sad.
i have been keeping a lot of my political stuff of ye olde blog for some very good personal reasons, but this just struck me in a bizarre way.
let me start by saying that i know virtually nothing about this “probe” in alaska regarding sarah palin’s alleged involvement in firing someone…Â i did/do know there was/is an investigation.
here’s the funny/sad part:
AP:Â Palin pre-empts state report, clears self in probe
what? WHAT? WHAT??!!
since when is that a) a viable defense or b) ACTUAL NEWS?
and, for that matter, how can a person — who did not know what the bush doctrine of pre-emptive action meant/was — pre-empt ANYTHING?
funny or sad?
wow.
i have certainly heard of greek organizations and student atheletes getting suspended for drinking, hazing and all around “we are golden gods” behaviour, but…
in some bizarre way, that’s just awesome.
i saw brand new at lollapalooza this year and i was unimpressed, but…
this “interpretation video” for what ended up to be the only song i like by these guys (thank you, nhl video game!) is absosmurfly brilliant. brilliant i tell you!
i am honoured and thrilled just to be considered…
i came across not only an interesting article, but an interesting website in total…
i am a sucker for anything hockey related and i have been thinking a lot about “hockey mom” analogies since the sarah palin anouncement. clearly, i cannot think fast — or creative — enough as sean quinn seems to have done it for me:
Sarah Palin Is Not A Hockey Mom
then i started reading all the graphs and charts on either side of the article.
wow.
the stuff on the right hand side — pun intended? — is what i have been looking for — for a while. consolidated/averaged out poll numbers on a per state basis. all the major (and some minor!) poll data is there and then crunched up. truly interesting stuff if you like numbers and percentages and stuff… you know you do!Â
