someday…Â i must have this hot tub.
even better? costco! i knew there was a reason that i renewed my card every year…
(thanks to crave for turning me on to it…)
ha!
the town i was born and lived in until i was 12 — depew, ny — is listed in a money magazine article on the “most affordable towns” in the states.
most of the towns listed are small suburbs in/near current/former industrial cities — like buffalo. in fact, there are a bunch of buffalo suburbs listed including: tonawanda, kenmore, lancaster, and cheektowaga. nice!
i agree. they are affordable. but the median incomes in these areas are certainly a LOT lower, perhaps disproportionately so, than other areas of the country. in manhattan, the last stats i saw were a median income of just under $100K with a median home price of over $500K.
nice. from the folks at blendtec…
“i think i’m going to press the smoothie button.” bah ha ha ha
(thanks to mike for the link!)
the simpsons movie marketing team is absolutely fantastic.
7-eleven’s turned into kwik-e marts…Â and, now, mr. burns has taken over the blog of the CEO of jetblue.
creativity in marketing. thank god.
i really wish i could post this in the “fake news” section. the whole thing sounds like an article on the onion.
where do i start?
1) paris hilton was released from prison early today — 5 days into her 23 day sentence
2) whatever i write here, i know that a) i am not alone and, certainly, b) not the first person to say/write on this topic
anyway… (you can check out stuff related to this on findlaw…)
i was just reading the news. top story? paris hilton released from prison. after 5 days. of a 23 day sentence. that was originally a 45 day sentence.
let me make this clear… i do not blame hilton for having “good counsel” or that the courts seem to have a different standard of justice for celebrities.
i blame the attorneys. the prosecutors. the courts.
she started with a DUI… pled down to reckless driving. that’s a stretch for the “average joe”.
she received 3 years probation with conditions. which she broke. including… incredibly… DRIVING A CAR!
she received 45 days in jail for the probation violation. is that really what the sentence would be? 45 days? am i really blind to the world around me or are dui offenders that chuck their probation only serving 45 days in jail?
for good behaviour — INEXPLICABLY BEFORE she went to prison — her sentence was reduced to 23 days. BEFORE she even got there? jesus! i am notifiying my next three employers that i want to start getting paid NOW instead of when i actually start working.
after only 5 days in the slammer… released. what, WHAT?, WHAT??!!! for 40 days of “house arrest”. i have no idea what her house looks like but i guarantee that it is at LEAST 30 times the size of our apartment in nyc. with every possible amenity. that’s called vacation. or 40 “mental health days” in a row.
to be sure, this is not the first time, nor the last time something like this has happened. it’s just the thing pissing me off this week. which, by the way, pisses me off even more because i have NO EARTHLY IDEA why i care!
head. exploding. now.
thank you to josh for sending this along…
i admit it. i played a LOT of dungeons & dragons when i was in high school. it was one of those “perfect storm” situations… mike moved to clinton and his family bought this amazing old house near the high school. on the top most floor there was an entire room that we dedicated to d&d. the room had a heavy pitch on one side — paralleling the roof line. we had a very long makeshift table that sat almost a dozen of us. we would play for HOURS after school and on weekends — sometimes all night. people would have 2 litres of soda and only one person could smoke at a time. mike, and i know others that play d&d would say this, was the best dungeon master — ever. he spent hours/days/weeks creating modules, from scratch, that were absolutely captivating.
anyway… there are many phrases on that list that i certainly have uttered, or have heard uttered… and now i’m thinking about it. thanks, josh!
